There are now so many ultrasound regional anaesthesia courses available, why would you choose our course? Our course is one of the longest-running UK courses and since the very beginning, we've concentrated on maximising the participants' practical exposure rather than on "delivering" lectures. This means we have to have a high faculty-to-candidate ratio and so we can offer very personalised exposure to nerve block techniques. Although we cover the whole EDRA syllabus, there is sufficient time to also focus on a participant's particular priorities.
We believe that ultrasound-guided nerve blocks can only be learnt by actual practical exposure to the techniques.
We limit the group size and have a large faculty so all candidates have sufficient time "hands on".
Our carefully selected and enthusiastic faculty of consultant anaesthetists are all very experienced block practitioners- many of whom first learnt to perform regional blocks before the widespread availability of ultrasound in UK theatre suites. They are all practicing anaesthetists rather than academics and so realise that the real world of regional anaesthesia is very different from the idealised and curated version often presented in conference presentations. They have a wealth of experience and can share many practical tips which will help you in becoming effective in the application of these exciting & useful techniques.
Our aim is to de-mystify what is often seen as a dark art and help to make ultrasound use a non-threatening adjunct to everyday anaesthetic practice.
